“Cities of Tomorrow” report presented!
Johannes Hahn presented this week the report “Cities of Tomorrow: challenges, visions, ways forward.” at the conference “Effective Instruments Supporting Territorial Development” that took place in Warsaw.
The report touches upon three main issues. The first part shows the European model of urban development, the second one discusses the opportunities, challenges, strengths and weaknesses of this model, the third part presents the governance challenges of the cities of tomorrow. Moreover, the report includes 10 good practice case studies of cities tackling common challenges in environmental, economic, social and governance terms.
The report is the outcome of the discussions of urban experts and practitioners who were gathered together to discuss the future of cities in Europe. It is suppose to contribute to the discussion about the urban dimension of the cohesion policy post 2013.
