RURBAN state of play
RURBAN steering group met on Friday February 8th in Brussels to discuss the conclusions and lessons from Metz seminar, the state of play of the OECD study and the planning of Warsaw seminar and the Final Conference.
Participants commented the most important findings of the OECD study underlying that towns/cities and surroundings should be considered as separate entities in order to understand how they can work together. They stressed that partnership within the functional urban areas will be possible thanks to a common leadership of all partners and a common understanding of collaboration benefits.
Warsaw seminar is planned for April 24-25 and will take place in Copernicus science centre. The seminar should focus on implementation issues, especially in the context of the preparation of the partnership agreements and programming of ESI Funds for the 2014-2020 programming period. Policymakers and stakeholders will discuss how to put sustainable urban rural partnerships into practice.
